Riondo Collezione Prosecco Rosé
Veneto, Italy
90% Glera, 10% Pinot Nero
Prosecco Rose, after a 10 year haitus, is a category again. Not a moment too soon either!
Producer
Production
Riondo’s impressive operation is based in the town of Monteforte d’Alpone, in Soave. A true custodian of the Veneto region and a superb cooperative offering the very best value Italy can muster without compromising on quality.
In 2009 the tightening of regulations on Prosecco prohibited the production of Rosé. 10 years on, the DOC has U-turned and Prosecco Rose is now a thing once again. Production is more stringent than the white versions. The red grapes used for colour must be Pinot Noir and should make up 10-15% of the blend (the rest being Glera). It must be aged on lees for a minimum of 2 months and must be from a single vintage (unlike the white stuff).
Tasting Notes
Riondo have used all their expertise to create this delicious rose. Fresh and light with delicate fruit notes and red berry and floral aromas. Lively on the palate with ripe strawberry and raspberry notes and a clean, refreshing finish.
